Mother’s Day – Risinghero

In dedication to my dearest mom!

Women are beautiful beings regardless inside and out. In historical and in a mythic point of view, they all had key roles that made the society revolve around their ideals. In many mythologies, women played key roles that involved tricking and killing their husbands. For example Kronos’s wife Reya tricked the titan into thinking he swallowed Zeus, but instead, he swallowed a boulder. This legend depicts Reya’s wits and tricked him by him actually swallowing a rock instead. This tale depicts Reya’s intelligence, tenacity, trickery, and most of all courage in being able to stand up against her own husband in order to protect her child. Another instance is when during the Viking age where Vikings would go to different lands to plunder and do raids, while the wives would have to take key roles in order to make sure that the Viking society runs smoothly. Women also have the role to raise powerful future Viking sons who would later participate in the same activities as their dads. As one may have noticed that women are badass when it comes to protecting their children and also given the responsibility of raising them as well.

As shown above, mothers/women will do anything to protect their children from their husbands who may wish to cause harm to them. Historically women are continued to be shown as unrelenting beings that are willing to do anything for their husbands and children in pursuit of love. This may involve tarnishing their status and their social standing society. For example, if a woman that is born into a royal family falls in love with an average man, then they would be more willing to fall from their standing and agree to inherit an average social standing. Because love becomes more important than what status they are born into. These facts are important to understanding because this shows the sacrifice that women have the potential to make in pursuit of everything they hold dear.

In the present day, we can see how mothers/women have become bold in constantly pursuing and redefining the meaning of women and mothers. It also proves that Mothers and women still hold power to redefine family dynamics and also how the society’s ideas may come to be questioned by the force of what women/mothers deem important to be passed in order to protect their loved ones. Due to women’s roles in the society in the present day, they have forced us men and society to re-evaluate what is of more importance than ourselves. One could almost say that men are starting to become more empathic and are beginning to embrace more women characteristics and roles to help women progress further in society. In a way, women/mothers help us celebrate humanity and all the good it is for this world. I feel that mothers and women make our world that much more beautiful helps us men be more clear about our ambition and our goals in life.
